The Timesquared Audio Studio is based around the Soundscape 32 system by SSL, which features state-of-the-art digital converters. Being a DSP system it is extremely reliable and is used by postproduction studios the world over. The sound quality is comparable to any digital audio workstation on the professional market today. The system is linked via TDIF to a 32-channel digital mixing desk, providing 24 digital inputs at one time. Projects can be mixed using either the digital desk or Soundscape's own internal mix automation.
Software
In addition to the world beating Soundscape 32 edit software we use a wide variety of other tools depending on the job in hand.
· ProTools is an industry standard production and post production tool, and here we use the LE version on request and/or convert to SS32 system if necessary. We can also record on location using a laptop with this system.
· Sonar Producer is one of the high-end digital recording systems on the market. We use it for film scoring and programming music. This is also the environment from which we run a multitude of software instruments (see below).
· Reason is a programming workstation program that allows the user to manipulate the built in synths and samples to an incredible degree. We use it heavily on sound design jobs, especially the games work where flexibility and speed of use are paramount
· Software Instruments are revolutionising the way we work in the recording world. We use a wide variety including Korg M1, Wavestation, Legacy Cell, Polysix, Mono/Poly, Absynth, East West Symphonic Orchestra, Ivory Piano, Dreamstation, PsynII, TTS-1, Pentagon I, Stormdrum, Session Drummer…plus any instrument designed for Reason can be wired into the system too. The possibilities are limitless for sound creation.
· Plugin Effects have in recent years all but replaced their hardware equivalents. We use only the highest possible quality effects algorithms on out projects. One recent addition is the ability to 're-amp' guitar sounds after they've been initially recorded using the Line 6 Gearbox plugins. This also provides an amazing variety of quality vintage style effects.
